Investigators say a faulty exhaust fan is to blame for an attic fire at an apartment east of Wilson Road and South H Street in Bakersfield that caused around $15,000 damage.

It happened after 3 p.m. at a complex on Fremont Street. Residents at the apartment and firefighters left the scene uninjured, according to a press release.
