Representatives with an area labor union say budget reductions stemming from the fiscal emergency that supervisors approved Tuesday will cause long-term damage to Kern County’s workforce.

Local 521 officer Luisa Blue says they’d still be willing to work with the county on pension costs and keeping cuts from reaching paychecks.
