Supervisors Mull Additional Fireworks Restrictions

The Board of Supervisors will consider tougher fireworks laws after hearing a presentation by the county attorneys on what would be banned and who could be fined.

County fire chief Brian Marshall told Supervisors Tuesday that he favors of banning Piccolo Petes and ground flowers, along with the already-prohibited flying fireworks.

“As a result of the referral from your board to the fire department and county counsel to improve the quality of life on the July 4th holiday, we support it,” he said.

The board will consider and vote on the new ordinances, which will include stiffer fines for people who let illegal fireworks be set off on their property, once the codes are formally written.
