A Bakersfield-area author says he’s getting ready to hop on his bike and pedal across the country for a dozen charities.

Kyle Turney says he’s working on his endurance for the trip, which starts in Pismo Beach in about two weeks.

“I’m starting to get where I’m not really winded. My legs aren’t getting tired the next day, and that’s a real good sign – It’s going to be tough getting over these mountains,” he said.

Turney’s ride will finish in New York City. There will be stops in between in Bakersfield, Las Vegas, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Nashville and Washington, D.C.
