The Kern County Coroner’s Office office says the man who died after he was struck by a pickup in the middle of northbound Highway 99 at Olive Drive was a 68-year-old from Bakersfield.

His name hasn’t been released. They say the accident happened at around 2:20 p.m. Saturday, and he died an hour later at Bakersfield Heart Hospital.
