Boys Responsible for Oildale House Fire

The Kern County Fire Department says two boys are responsible for a house fire in Oildale that caused around $20,000 damage.

Captain Tyler Townsend says firefighters were called to Wilson Avenue and Yosemite Drive at around noon Wednesday.

“The juveniles started multiple areas of the house on fire and extinguished them before letting a fire get out of control,” he said.

Townsend says the fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes. He says the 12-year-old and the 13-year-old have been enrolled in a fire-setter program, and the case has been submitted to juvenile court.
