A Bakersfield man is jailed after a 100-mile-per-hour chase on Highway 99.

The California Highway Patrol says the 33-year-old man was on methamphetamine when he bolted from a traffic stop near California Avenue late Thursday morning. They say he hit a spike strip after exiting at Kimberlina Road.
