Two Dead After Hwy. 99 Crash in Bakersfield

The coroner’s office has identified the two people who died in a crash on Highway 99 near Olive Drive as 51-year-old Cynthia Davis and 47-year-old Anthony Lamarsna of Bakersfield.

Robert Rodriguez with the California Highway Patrol says it happened at around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday when Davis clipped a semi that she was trying to pass. She then spun into a guardrail.

“The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the passenger was transported to Kern Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries,” Rodriguez said.

Drugs may have factored into the crash.

“We located some drug paraphernalia within the driver’s belongings,” Rodriguez said.

The wreck shut down the Olive Drive off-ramp for nearly three hours.
