A man who died in a crash on Panama Lane near Reliance Drive has been identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as 19-year-old Miguel Vargas of Bakersfield.

Police say Vargas was heading eastbound when he struck a utility pole at around 2 a.m. Wednesday. He died at the scene.
