A 2008 Olympian that won three silver medals in Beijing at the age of 41 will deliver the keynote address at the 26th-annual Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference on Sept. 24.

Chairwoman Leigh Pozas says they’ve selected author, businesswoman and swimmer Dara Torres to deliver the speech.

“I knew my message all along would be ‘strength of a woman,'” she said. “I wanted a woman that embodied all sorts of strengths – not just an athlete, but I (also) wanted a woman that got into business.”

The event will take place at the downtown Rabobank Convention Center.
