The man who died after being arrested for drunk driving northeast of Stallion Springs is 44-year-old Donald Levingston of Tehachapi.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office says Levingston was medically cleared by paramedics to be taken to jail in Bakersfield on Thursday after he was acting erratically in the patrol car.

He was rushed from jail to Kern Medical Center early Friday and died at the hospital. It’s not known what caused Levingston’s death.
