Assemblyman Rudy Salas of Bakersfield has introduced a bill that would prohibit raises for university executives after tuition hikes.
Salas said he presented the bill Monday after hearing concerns from students after UC and CSU trustees opted to raise tuition and give themselves a pay bump last November.
“They were upset that they were paying increasing tuition costs, and yet, a couple months later, they would see executives at those same universities get pay raises,” he said.
Salas said the bill has been received favorably by other members of the assembly so far.
