Kern County grade school students will be vying for slots in a statewide history competition.

Youngsters in the 32nd-annual Kern County History Day at the Larry E. Reider Education Center in Bakersfield on Saturday will compete in six categories. Winners at May’s state event in Rocklin will go to the national meet in Maryland.
