Person Jailed After Bakersfield Lowe’s Fire

One person is jailed after starting a fire that closed the Lowe’s Home Improvement store on Colony Street near Panama Lane.

Captain Mike Lencioni with the Bakersfield Fire Department says firefighters were greeted by smoke whey they arrived at the scene after 8 p.m. Thursday.

“The store employees told them that they were able to knock the fire down,” he said. “Somebody had set a fire in an area of some plastics at the back of the store – they knocked it down with fire extinguishers.”

Lencioni says there weren’t any injuries. The store was evacuated without issue.
