Assemblywoman Shannon Grove of Bakersfield has named a Mission of Kern County employee the 34th District Woman of the Year.

Catherine Skow was given the designation for helping other women overcome addiction. She joined the mission three years ago after spending 40 years as a Los Angeles media executive.
