A man is dead and his wife hospitalized after a shooting at a home in the Stockdale Country Club Estates near Stockdale Elementary School.

Sgt. Joe Grubbs with the Bakersfield Police Department says 911 was called from inside the De Colores Court home just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

“Once officers arrived here, they found an adult male who was deceased in the back yard, and an adult female that had been shot just inside the front door of the residence,” he said.

“It doesn’t look like a break-in was involved,” he said. “It was isolated to this address.”

The woman was rushed into surgery at Kern Medical Center. Her condition isn’t known.
