Man Dead After Southeast Bakersfield Shooting

A homicide investigation has been launched after a man was killed while sitting in a vehicle in front of a southeast Bakersfield home.

Ray Pruitt with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to Bryant Street and Garber Way at around 5:20 p.m. Thursday.

“They located a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway – inside that vehicle they found a Hispanic male adult suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” he said.

Pruitt says it’s not clear what prompted the shooting.

The man died at the scene. His name hasn’t been released.
