The officer that shot a 47-year-old man to death at the Hart Hotel on 19th Street downtown was a one-year veteran with the Bakersfield Police Department.

Nestor Barajas is on paid leave after Tuesday’s shooting. Police say the victim was acting erratically before officers got there and may have pulled a knife on Barajas.
