Two people are injured after a train reversed into a big rig near Manor Street and Norris Road in Oildale.
Ray Pruitt with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office said the tanker was found split open on a nearby access road just before 1 a.m. Tuesday.
“The investigation is ongoing, but, at this point, it appears that it was just an accident,” he said. “It appears that the driver did not see the train backing up.”
The driver had to be pulled from the truck by firefighters and was hospitalized with minor injuries. A conductor was injured after jumping from the train.
Pruitt said the tanker spilled trace amounts of oil at the scene.
