The Kern County District Attorney’s Office says it’s noticing an alarming number complaints linked to unlicensed contractors offering repair work to elderly people in Bakersfield.
David Wolfe is with the district attorney’s office and says it’s a crime they’re trying to crack down on.
“We had 45 complaint requests, we’ve had 37 criminal complaints filed and we just had another 11 on the sting after that,” he said.
He says contracting without a license is a misdemeanor, but can be a felony if there’s fraud is connected to the work.
