Public health officers are trying to start discussions between east-side residents, law enforcement and Kern County representatives over how to best improve Heritage Park.
Mariel Mehdipour with the Kern County Public Health Department says Wednesday’s meeting the first step toward making the park on Mount Vernon Avenue and Bernard Street better.
“County parks and recreation will be holding community meetings in conjunction with out department to be able to do a master plan for the parks,” she said.
Residents urged police to crack down on homelessness, drug use and gang activity in the park, and also asked county representatives to add a dog park, slides and lights to the facility.
