Kern County firefighters raised nearly $7,000 at the Broken Yolk Cafe on Buena Vista Road in to help a Fresno firefighter who fell through the roof of a burning house.

The money received Friday will help Pete Dern as he recovers from serious burns. A $50-per-couple fundraiser breakfast will also be held at the west Bakersfield restaurant on Saturday, which will get underway at 6 a.m.
