BPD Holds Fourth Community Zone Meeting

Parking, traffic and homelessness were among several of the concerns voiced by downtown residents during the Bakersfield Police Department’s Metro Zone community meeting.

Thursday’s meeting at the Larry E. Reider Building on K Street was the fourth in the department’s newly-created six patrol zones, and assistant chief Lyle Martin says hasn’t noticed any trends.

“Nothing has jumped out,” he said. “This area was a lot of homelessness, other areas are violent crime and others were traffic-related.”

Martin says they’re using the comments from each meeting to figure out how the best way to police people in each zone.

Another meeting will take place next Thursday at West High School.
