Victims of crime and their families marched from the Kern County Courthouse in downtown Bakersfield to St. Francis Church on 10th and H streets to show unity and strength during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
Heidi Scott is with the church and said between 300 and 400 people made the walk this year.
“We are, unfortunately, living in a violent society,” she said. “And, when community comes together against violence, that when we can make a difference.”
Tuesday was the third-annual march to raise awareness about the rights that crime victims have.
