Malfunctioning equipment is being blamed for a fire at a paper manufacturing facility east of McFarland that caused around $10,000 damage.

It happened before 5 p.m. Wednesday. Crews from Shafter, north Bakersfield and McFarland were called to fight the fire at Zerker Road and Peterson Road.
