Police aren’t saying what injuries led to the death of an infant at a downtown California Avenue apartment.

They say four-month-old Stepfon Jones Jr.’s trauma wasn’t consistent with statements taken Saturday from the father, Stepfon Jones Sr., or the child’s mother.

The father is charged with murder and child abuse. The mother is said to be cooperating with the investigation.
