Stocks were mixed as the Fed began a two-day meeting to discuss interest rates.

The Dow was up 72 points and the S&P 500 gained six points on Tuesday. The Nasdaq lost five points after Twitter fell 18 percent.

American crude finished seven cents higher to $57.06.
