city and county law enforcement get gift from the feds

The Bakersfield Police Department and Kern County Sheriff’s Office will be splitting more than $1.16-Million that was given to them by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sacramento. Police Chief Greg Williamson says the department received more than $570,000 from a major drug bust in the county in 2009. “We’re taking the money out of their hands so it’s not going back to their country, or to terrorist organizations, or to the furtherance of their gangs.” The Sheriff’s Office was given more than $595,000 after four men were convicted of trying to smuggle 444 pounds of cocaine through the county.
