The Kern Valley and North Kern state prisons near Delano and the Wasco State Prison will receive a chunk of a $2.5 million grant to increase inmate programs and volunteerism.

The State Department of Corrections says the money will be given to people and non-profits already running successful programs at state correctional facilities.
