Around 300 teams are expected to take part the 2015 Bakersfield Relay For Life, which begins Saturday at the Kern County Fairgrounds.
Team development worker Melissa Medina says they’re expecting to exceed the $1.1 million that was raised during last year’s event.
“We’re already at, when I checked a couple days ago, $853,000 – I’m hoping we can exceed last year’s event,” she said. “That’d be really awesome.”
The money benefits the American Cancer Society.
Opening ceremonies at the 24th-annual event start at 9 a.m. All teams will be on the track before 10 a.m.
