The coroner’s office says the man who struck and killed by a tractor trailer while walking along Interstate 5 south of Copus Road is 72-year-old Calvin Thomas of San Francisco.

The California Highway Patrol says Thomas was standing in the middle of the freeway, possibly trying to flag down somebody for help, when he was hit before 9 p.m. Monday. He died at the scene.
