The board president of the Kern Regional Center has stepped down.

In a statement read during a Tuesday meeting, Susan Lara said she wanted to spend more time with her family, and denied claims of poor management.

Over 100 people signed a letter expressing no confidence in Lara and CEO Duane Law last month.
