Police are investigating after an Iowa State University-bound football star from Ridgeview High School shot himself in the left hand.

18-year-old Sheldon Croney was handling a gun at a friend’s house on Rock Lake Drive in southwest Bakersfield on Tuesday when it went off. BPD says they don’t expect to file charges.
