The boy ejected and killed on Highway 58 east of Caliente Road is a 7-year-old from Bakersfield.

He was riding with 35-year-old Maureen Deanda and a 13-year-old, who were seriously hurt Monday.

The California Highway Patrol says Deanda’s vehicle clipped an SUV that she was trying to pass, causing both to veer into the center wall. Deanda’s vehicle rolled, then flipped over a guardrail.
