A man is jailed after the Kern County Sheriff’s Office says he was spotted by neighbors trying to burglarize a vacant house in south Bakersfield.

Sgt. Abel Lombera says the man ran from the scene after being confronted by deputies inside the residence at around 10 a.m. Thursday.

“He was jumping fences, jumping on top of roofs – just basically trying to get away from us,” he said. “But, deputies were able to apprehend him in the 800-block of Caylor Street.”

Lombera says the man wasn’t able to take anything.
