A sixth Asian Citrus Psyllid has been found in Kern County, this time near the intersection of Panorama Drive and Eton Street in the Bakersfield College area.
It was discovered May 7 in a trap, just weeks after the pest was found near the Westchester neighborhood.
The insect can carry a greening disease fatal to citrus plants, which agriculture officials say, if not controlled, could wipe out California’s $2.4 billion citrus industry.
