Kern County’s unemployment rate settled at 10.3 percent in April, down from 11.1 percent in March.
Rosendo Flores is a labor market consultant with the California Employment Development Department and says two industries added jobs.
“Farm employment led the month-over gain with a normal seasonal increase of 9,200 jobs, and leisure and hospitality expanded by 500 jobs over the month,” he said.
The biggest loser was construction, which slashed 600 jobs last month. Another 200 oilfield jobs were also lost.
