A motorist had to be hospitalized after running a red light and striking a school bus near East Bakersfield High School.

The California Highway Patrol says it happened before 3 p.m. at Quincy Street and Mount Vernon Avenue. No children were aboard the bus, and the bus driver wasn’t hurt.
