The city of Bakersfield has chosen to cancel this year’s Fourth at River Walk event, saying they weren’t able to secure a needed sponsor for the July 4 fireworks show.

City manager Alan Tandy made the decision official in a memo to mayor Harvey Hall and the city council on Friday, citing budget issues.
