Bail is set at $250,000 for a Bakersfield man accused of fatally striking a pedestrian while drunk during a street race on Edison Highway east of Neumarkle Road.

24-year-old John Velazquez pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to charges stemming from the weekend death of 22-year-old Patrick Mendez.
