Stocks were up Wednesday as investors reacted to an editorial in the Fed’s beige book that said economic activity is expanding in the U.S.

The Dow gained 64 points, the Nasdaq added 23 and the S&P 500 gained four. Crude fell $1.62 to $59.64.
