Fire Damages Four Structures in South Bakersfield

Bakersfield Fire Department investigators think burning garbage may have sparked a sprawling fire in a neighborhood just east of Evergreen Elementary School that caused $250,000 damage.

Battalion Chief Danny Brown says 43 personnel were called to Baldwin Road, south of Belle Terrace, at around 3 p.m. Thursday.

“First-arriving crews on scene found multiple structures buring – it was being pushed by wind,” he said. “By the time that we had it knocked down, we had four structures damaged – two heavily.”

Two people suffered first-degree burns while trying to combat the flames.
