Fire in Neighborhood Causes $200k Damage in South Taft

Capt. Tyler Townsend says 28 personnel were called to Naylor Avenue and Wood Street after 9:30 a.m. Monday and had the fire out in 40 minutes.

“The firefighters made an aggressive attack to protect the exposures, but, unfortunately, that fire got into both structures and burned into the attack, to firefighters had to make entry into both of those homes,” he said.

Townsend said the fire displaced at least one family and caused $200,000 damage.
