An investigation has been launched into whether Tehachapi inappropriately paid for a new pickup using $17,000 from the Eastern Kern Air Pollution Control District.

The Kern County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the probe Wednesday, but wouldn’t comment further. Greg Garrett, Tehachapi’s city manager, did not return our calls Wednesday.
