The man who was pulled by city firefighters from an east Bakersfield apartment in critical condition has been identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as 23-year-old Christopher Johnson.

He died from complications of smoke inhalation about eight hours after the June 24 fire at at Beale Avenue and Kentucky Street.
