The coroner’s office is trying to figure out what led to the death of a woman whose body was found in a Eureka Street alley near Owens Intermediate School in east Bakersfield.

Sgt. Martin Heredia says BPD was called east of Beale Avenue after 10 a.m. Friday.

“They located a body that’s obviously deceased, and there’s some state of decomposure going on,” he said.

Heredia says detectives failed to find signs of struggle or trauma and are unsure if the death was a homicide.
