Police are investigating after a body was pulled from the Friant-Kern Canal east of Coffee Road in Bakersfield.

Sgt. Joe Grubbs says the discovery was made at around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

“There was a fisherman in the area that was fishing that located the body,” he said.

The man’s name hasn’t been released. Grubbs says investigators aren’t sure how long the body had been there.
