A man is jailed after the California Highway Patrol says he intentionally struck a house in the Tehachapi area, then led a high-speed chase through two counties.

Officer Darlena Dotson says 49-year-old James McKie hit the home on Sand Canyon Road, then drove away after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

“He basically traveled through Tehachapi, Mojave, and eventually ended up in the Acton area,” she said.

Dotson says there were children inside the house, but wasn’t sure if they were hurt.
