A firefighter who suffered first and second-degree burns while trying to put out a fire in south Bakersfield is expected make a full recovery and return to work soon, the Bakersfield Fire Department said.

He was hurt Saturday while fighting an apartment complex fire on Planz Road east of South Chester Avenue. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, which displaced 20 people.
