The Kern County Bridal Association made about $2,500 selling blue porch lights honoring the memory of a Bakersfield Police Department officer killed in the line of duty.
Executive Assistant Taylor Brown says over 350 of their bulbs were lit Sunday to remember David Nelson, who died during a high-speed chase on June 26 at Panorama Drive and Mount Vernon Avenue.
“We wanted everyone to have a chance to be able donate and show their support and have the blue lights on for Officer Nelson,” she said.
Brown says the money was donated Tuesday to a scholarship fund in Nelson’s name.
